The Hip Physical Examination for Telemedicine Encounters
In recent years, there has been an increasing focus on telehealth that has expanded exponentially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to the pandemic, multiple medical specialties began using telemedicine as a substitute for in-person visits given the ease of use, decreased time, and cost benefits [16,19]. Telemedicine was not widely adopted among orthopedic surgeons, however, often due to concerns about the utility of a virtual physical exam . With the institution of social distancing requirement and restrictions on in-office visits, telehealth provides a safe method for evaluation of the orthopedic patient.
